Cheap Rainy Day Activities

Cheap rainy day activities.

Getting stuck inside is a pain. We may not notice it as much as generations past because of all our awesome gadgets, but sometimes gadgets don't cut it. And we want something to do, which is fun, even a challenge, that doesn't involve sitting in front of a screen. For those in that situation, here are some quick and free options that can help make the situation.

Origami - This is fun to do by yourself, with kids or adults. Learning is easy on the internet and with some practice and some paper laying around the house you can create some fun and some origami animals. The most popular is paper crane origami, frog origami, and boat origami.
The great thing about origami is that it is easy to set up, fun to do and easy to clean up, you don't need any special materials or experience to get started! All you need is some scrap paper (printer paper will do fine), some scissors, a flat surface and some instructions.

You can get started at PaperCraneOrigami.com

Mini Cricket - This game can be a lot of fun for young people, playing with friends in a hall way or lounge room. Every area has its own special rules, sometimes the couch can be a fielder, and if the ball gets hit on the couch, your out. Other times hitting the ball into the kitchen can be four runs.
These specific rules make the game so much fun and bonds the players, but just a warning parents, before you start make sure there are no breakables in the vicinity.
All you need is a ping pong ball, a hardwood or vinyl floor, some stumps (a small paper bin works fine) and something to use as a bat (you could even roll up a magazine if you needed to).

Card games - A deck of card comes with a lot of games. The trouble is that these days people don't remember all the games that you can play. Cheat, 21, poker, euka, 500, gin fummy, snap, patience, and the list goes on. And if you get bored of games, you can always build a house of cards.
All you need is a pack or two of cards, and some willing participants. Chips or matches can be good if you are playing a game that requires betting.

Staying inside with friends can be fun, and these games can help bond and create better relationships.
